I can’t believe I just typed that headline…so…Danny Dyer isn’t a huge name in The United States, but across the pond in the merry ole’ United Kingdom, Dyer is a big star. With roles in Football Factory, Casualty, Mean Machine, 7lives, and Age of Heroes; an appointment as chairman of Kent League’s Greenwich Borough in South East London (a UK Football club…soccer.); a former gig writing for Zoo Weekly (he lost it when he jokingly suggested that a reader cut his ex-girlfriend’s face); and having even been offered a role on EastEnders (the UK’s most popular soap opera/most popular show; it’s been on for over 25 years); Dyer is a big deal over in the land of tea and hooligans. Part of the reason he became such a big deal is his lack of giving a hoot what people think about him, and his ultra-manly nature (hold while I shake my head at myself for typing “ultra-manly”); and in accordance with both of those traits, Dyer has done nothing to conceal his rapidly balding skull. He’s receding, thinning, and has a bald spot, so he’d have plenty to hide if he really wanted to, but he doesn’t opting to just let it go. For his achievements in being a guy, and his proper handling of the gift of bald, I hereby appoint Dyer to the rank of Lieutenant in The Bald Army, welcome aboard my British brother in bald.
