Dwight Yoakam- Bald Country Western Cowboy
While most country singers make a habit out of wearing any and every hat they can find to cover up they’re baldness, quite possibly the best ever flat out doesn’t care. One of the pioneers of country music, Dwight Yoakam has made a career out of winning Grammys, topping Billboard charts, and selling over 25 million albums. Oh yeah, did I mention he’s also an acclaimed film director and actor whose credits include Crank, Slingblade, and Wedding Crashers? With all those stunning credits behind him though, Dwight has not made the mistake of tarnishing his rugged reputation by trying to cover up and be shameful of his baldness. He lets the sides and the back grow wild, while the top just keeps thinning and receding. He doesn’t worry about his image, or about how he looks at red carpet premieres, he just worries about giving his fans, whether they listen to him, or watch him, a good artistic product. Maybe is country music still had more guys like Dwight, who actually walk, talk, and look the part of a whiskey swilling, weary, weather cowboy, instead of pretty boys in Levis, Oakleys, and leather shirts, people outside of the Midwest and South would give it a chance.
